The nursery is an exceptionally inclusive and highly stimulating environment for all children. All of the indoor areas are carefully designed to promote learning in every area.
Our children stay with the friends that they make in their room throughout their journey through Springfield Montessori Nursery and Pre-School and move rooms together in September*. We cater for the children in 5 rooms. In addition to their rooms, all of the children can use any of the 3 additional rooms – Sensory Room, Montessori / Teaching Room or the Quiet Activity Room
Snowdrop
Our nurturing baby unit offers care for children aged between 0 – 1 years old. All staff have specific training in caring for babies and the environment is tailored to the children’s needs. Snowdrop have their own garden overlooking the field.
Bluebell
Our Bluebells are aged between 1 – 2 and this is a perfect environment for the children to develop their independence such as feeding themselves. Bluebell’s have their own large outdoor area allowing for safe exploration with children of a similar age.
Poppy
Children in Poppy are aged between 1 – 2. The environment is tailored to their needs and they have a rubbered ‘free-flow’ outdoor area. A strong attachment to their ‘Key Person’ is developed as they start to have a greater ‘sense of self’.
Daffodil
Split into 2 large rooms with a shared outdoor ‘free-flow’ area and a dedicated toilet area, all of the children turn 3 during the year. Daffodil children start to develop greater confidence, independence and self-help skills. The activities are targeted at their developmental needs and children’s interests are incorporated into planning.
Sunflower
Our purpose build pre-school is perfect for our Pre-School children who turn 4 during the year. Sunflowers have their own free-flow area and can explore the forest, mud kitchen, top field and greenhouse. Children are taught letters, sounds, numbers, counting and reading by our Pre-School Teacher. The children develop at their own speed in readiness for their future journey through school.
Sensory Room, Montessori / Teaching Room and Quiet Activity Room
The 3 rooms give an additional space for the children to use. We encourage the rooms to join up in small groups to share the experiences with each other. We have 2 interactive screens in these rooms for a variety of sensory play and teaching.
*A small number of children from Bluebell move to Poppy in January.
